Gay Marriage
(excerpt from May 15, 2007 speech)
When I was a little guy growing up in Owosso, Michigan, I told a young buddy of mine that I really loved a particular kind of donut known as a Jelly-Filled Bismarck. My friend smiled and said, "If you love it so much, why don't you marry it? Why don't you marry a donut?"
Now of course at that time, the laws in Michigan prohibited a man from marrying a donut.
The Breakfast campaign is about love. Other candidates will run on a platform of reducing taxes or increasing troop withdrawals. I choose love. Others will advocate terrorism or bi-lateral NATO expansion. I choose love.
No human being has a right to dictate who or what another person loves. It's sacrilege. It is the job of nature, of God, and ultimately of the individual to create and follow the laws of the heart.
I choose love.
I choose man-woman love. I choose man-man love. I choose girl-girl love! I choose gender-bending love.
Personally, I love breakfast. I love that "Eating breakfast of any kind prevent(s) many of the adverse effects of fasting," such as irritability and fatigue, according to Bonnie Spring, Ph.D., University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School.
I love that children who eat breakfast are more prone to get their recommended intake of calcium, magnesium, riboflavin, folate, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B6 and vitamin D according to researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Yes, my friends... I choose love. What will you choose?
